The Old Vicarage Day Nursery opened in 2024. The nursery is housed in a beautiful, historic vicarage which is full of charm and character and located in the heart of Swadlincote, South Derbyshire, next to the local church and surrounded by stunning gardens.
Upon arriving, you are greeted by an incredible team of fun loving, enthusiastic, highly qualified professionals who share owner Abby’s passion to be outstanding within their field and enjoy close and loving relationships with all the children within their care.
We work very closely with parents/carers to ensure that you feel relaxed and confident that your child is safe and happy and update you with daily pictures and videos of your child, playing learning and achieving.
Choosing the right nursery is a very important decision – please take advantage of our regular nursery viewing evenings, where you can meet some of the team, see the wonderful facilities and rooms we have, to help decide if our nursery is the one for you and your little one.

I clearly thought an earlier start at another setting would help but the settle session didn’t go well at all and absolutely nothing like the amazing experience I’ve had so far with yourselves!
I can’t recommend The Old Vicarage Nursery enough!
The staff here are absolutely wonderful—so caring, attentive, and always providing excellent updates on my child’s progress. They truly go above and beyond to make sure every child feels valued and supported. I love how they organize creative and fun messy play activities every day, allowing the children to explore and have fun in the best ways possible.
The meals are also top-notch—high-quality, delicious, and nutritious, and I had the chance to sample them during one of their open days. It was so reassuring to know that my daughter is getting healthy and tasty meals!
Most importantly, my daughter has so much fun here, and I can see her learning and growing every day. The Old Vicarage is a fantastic place for any child to thrive!
Eric started here after Christmas and I was very nervous to leave him within a setting. I cannot thank all the girls enough for making, not Eric but myself and my mum welcome also, the staff always greet you with a smile and have mountains to tell you about what they have been up to, daily photos are great and he comes home in different clothes most days which is brilliant because I know he’s been involved and having fun!
The food is outstanding and all made from scratch, he has better meals than me and the outdoor forest school is just the best! If you are looking for somewhere to bring your children I can’t recommend enough. The small homely vibe is definitely for us.
