A safe, fun, inspiring nursery to play and learn
The Old Forge is a nineteenth century, half-timbered building, set within beautiful grounds and looks like something out of a fairy tale and the magic continues when you step inside.
You are greeted by an incredible team of fun loving, enthusiastic, highly qualified professionals who share owner Abby’s passion to be outstanding within their field and enjoy close and loving relationships with all the children within their care.
We work very closely with parents/carers to ensure that you feel relaxed and confident that your child is safe and happy and update you with daily pictures and videos of your child, playing learning and achieving.
Choosing the right nursery is a very important decision – please take advantage of our regular nursery viewing evenings, where you can meet some of the team, see the wonderful facilities and rooms we have, to help decide if our nursery is the one for you and your little one.

We cannot rate the nursery high enough – our daughter started full time when she was 8 months old and the teams have supported so much of her development. Our daughter has also built strong bonds with many members of staff which is so special to see, especially given how much time she spends there. One of our favourite parts about the nursery is the menu they offer – they really helped our weaning journey and our daughter has such a diverse palette all thanks to the meals the nursery provide.
I just wanted to make you guys aware of what a total star Elena was yesterday! I collected B from Bear Cubs mid morning after her being off for nearly a week with illness and I was a bit of an emotional mess! I felt so guilty for trying to send her back too soon and also work/life had got on top of us a little whilst we’d been juggling her being off sick!
Anyway Elena was so so kind and empathetic, she gave me a hug and said some really kind words. It makes me so happy B is growing up around such kind and compassionate ladies and so I just wanted to make sure management were aware of her lovely actions yesterday and how much we appreciate her (and the rest of the team of course!)
Emilia has come one leaps and bounds since starting at The Old Forge. The Pre-School team have been outstanding (as have all the rooms). Iwan leads the room superbly and Emilia always comes home happy, talkative and shares what she’s been doing every day. Every day is structed and tasks are creative, academic and fun. Louise is fantastic and always goes above and beyond. As a teacher myself, I couldn’t wish to send my child to a better nursery. We couldn’t be any happier with all that they do every day.
Our daughter started full time nursery when she was 8 months old and our initial worry and guilt disappeared as soon as we met Megan, Hannah and Lydia. They’re the warmest, friendliest bunch and have a genuine care for our daughter and the rest of the children. Bonnie has never had an issue leaving us in the morning and this is testament to the team and the wonderful time she had at nursery everyday. Its also great to the see the food she is exposed to at such a young age, it was one of the main reasons we chose The Old Forge.

All the rooms are bright and colourful and are full of exciting and fun, age appropriate equipment, designed to offer everything your little one needs to feel safe, secure and at home within their surroundings.

Need a little help during the school holidays? Meet the DEN ClubOur DEN Club is the perfect schools out holiday club and is jam packed full of fun and exciting activities, trips and local outings all run by experienced, qualified staff.
Based at Egginton Primary School, just a 10 minute drive away, our club is open to all children aged 4 – 11 years who currently attend Primary School and there is a comprehensive holiday plan for each day. See www.thedenclub.co.uk for more details.
