We run official Forest School nurseries
Forest School is a stimulating learning experience. It allows all children to test themselves, build self-esteem and pride, develop new skills and learn the art of reflection.
Our all nurseries are equipped with either a Forest School or Urban Forest School, for our children to enjoy, with one qualified Forest School Coordinator and multiple other members of staff working towards getting their Forest School Leader qualification.
All of our children enjoy daily Forest School sessions.
What is Forest School?
Forest School offers children an exciting, inspiring and constantly changing outdoor environment. Children learn new skills and develop gross and fine motor skills in an environment with an appropriate level of challenge.
They learn to work together, to communicate and negotiate with peers and adults. Forest School offers opportunities to investigate and learn and to respect nature. We have an award nominated Forest School area within our grounds for all children to enjoy daily Forest School sessions with qualified Forest School Coordinators and practitioners, even our babies!
What is Urban Forest School?
Urban Forest School follows the same principles and training for practitioners as Forest School, but takes place in wholly an urban environment.
In Urban Forest School we can find nature in unique places such as pavements, playgrounds, and even under rocks, we don’t need to look far away to explore the natural surroundings around us.
Exciting textures can be added to an urban forest school area, such as bark on the floor and climbing plants in pots, to recreate the natural layers found in tradition Forest School areas.
We are award nominated for our Urban Forest School provision at our Beeches Park site.
Discovering nature through practical outdoor play
Forest School is a stimulating learning experience for children. It allows all children to test themselves, build self-esteem and pride, develop new skills and learn the art of reflection.
Experiences include den building, tying knots, whittling, construction, natural crafts, mini-beast hunts, identifying and sorting natural objects, natural mark making and cooking on
camp fires.
If you go down to the woods today…
…you’ll certainly see some play!
