Easter is a lovely time to bring a little fun into food, and these simple cocoa nests are a great way to do just that.

Made with oats, unsweetened cocoa powder and fresh fruit, they offer a naturally sweet option without the need for chocolate or refined sugar. Easy to prepare and perfect for little hands to help shape, these nests are all about creating something enjoyable, colourful and balanced for children to take part in.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups plain oats (or crushed oat cereal, no added sugar)
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1–2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or oat drink (to bind)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries)
  • Optional: raisins or seeds for decoration
Method
  1. Gently melt the coconut oil until liquid.
  2. Stir in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Add the oats and mix well until fully coated.
  4. Stir in coconut sugar (if using) and a splash of oat drink to help the mixture come together.
  5. Spoon into small cupcake cases.
  6. Press the centre gently to create a nest shape.
  7. Chill in the fridge until firm (around 30–60 minutes).
  8. Add fresh berries just before serving.
Ready to Enjoy!
